BV512 Vocoder EQ Analysis Results

After finding a decent frequency analysis program I set about to find what the range of eqs are for each vocoder band (at 32 band count).
The test is in no way a completely accurate reading of the eq ranges, mostly because I fed the signal of Reason from my G4 to my Audigy card in my PC. But I think the ranges & peak eqs are in the ball park. And important to know is that each band effects more than its given range. I just measured everything above -30db, but all bands effected freqs well beyond their listed range. For instance the 1st band (67 to 80) is really more like 30 to 200 if db level is not taking into account. Anyway below is a list of the useable ranges of each the 32 vocoder bands. Just in case people are confused here’s how to read the 1st line.

Giotto’s O

In Zen Buddhist painting, ensō symbolizes a moment when the mind is free to simply let the body/spirit create. The brushed ink of the circle is usually done on silk or rice paper in one movement (but the great Bankei used two strokes sometimes) and there is no possibility of modification: it shows the expressive movement of the spirit at that time

MPC Groove Template Tutorial

I love the Akai MPC-3000. The drum grooves created with this instrument consistently yield a very musical flow that inspire beat oriented tracks. The design of legend, Roger Linn, combined with Akai’s sampling technology is still used by many to this day. This project was inspired by necessity to bring the feel of the MPC into Reason. I’m consistently asked how to use this song file, so the following tutorial explains the procedure of using Reason’s user groove feature.

ByteNoise on Mastering

In terms of composing and performing music, mastering is the process of taking the sounds the band has created, or the electronic instruments have synthesized, and turning them from a demo that sounds good into a final mix that sounds great. There are five main steps to this: balancing, panning, equalization, compression and adding effects.

FREE Reason and Record Tutorials

I’m going to compile a list of FREE Reason and Record tutorials and websites to help new users get started and existing users dig a bit deeper. Please add to the list any websites that people should know about or any good YouTube tutorials and be sure to let me know about broken links or if you find a tutorial that is an improvement on any of the tutorials posted here. Maybe it’s my own fault. Maybe I led you to believe it was easy when it wasn’t. Maybe I made you think my highlights started at the free throw line, and not in the gym. Maybe I made you think that every shot I took was a game winner. That my game was built on flash, and not fire. Maybe it’s my fault that you didn’t see that failure gave me strength; That my pain was my motivation.Maybe I led you to believe that basketball was a God given gift, and not something I worked for every single day of my life. Maybe I destroyed the game. Or maybe you’re just making excuses. - Michael Jordan -
